Arend obtained both his B.Comm (1991) and his LLB (1993) degrees from the University of Stellenbosch. After his studies Arend did his articles at Fairbridge Arderne & Lawton in Cape Town.
He joined Cluver Markotter in 1995 and became a director of the firm in 2000. Arend also completed a post graduate diploma in tax law (cum laude) at the University of Stellenbosch in 2000.
Arend concentrates on general and commercial property work and is also a Notary.
Arend is married to Retseh and has two sons, Adriaan and Tiaan. He enjoys golf, swimming, rowing, mountain biking and hiking. Arend is also a keen wine enthusiast.
